MOTHER EARTH VS. WORLD’S PEOPLE: A MOCK TRIAL ON CLIMATE CHANGE
MONDAY, JANUARY 30; 7:00 – 8:30PM
One of the many themes of Two River’s upcoming production, "Hurricane Diane", is climate change. To dive deeper into this theme, we have partnered with the Monmouth Community Climate Coalition to bring you "Mother Earth vs. World’s People" by Douglas Stewart ― a 40 minute mock trial which explains the 101s of climate change and in the end, asks the audience to come to a verdict as the jury.
Following the trial, "Hurricane Diane" Playwright Madeleine George, Director of Urban Coast Institute at Monmouth University, Tony MacDonald, and Monmouth Community Climate Coalition founding member, Lynn Dash will lead a discussion on how we can continue to spread the word about climate change through the arts, education, and involvement in local community organizations.
The mock trial will be read by Two River Theater’s Metro Scholars―a highly competitive group of high school juniors, currently immersed in professional acting workshops and internships at the theater.
