Two River Theater’s production of Cyrano, adapted by Jason O’Connell and Brenda Withers, is not the first fresh take on Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand. Join us for a special film screening of the 1987 romantic comedy Roxanne. Steve Martin, in a “thoroughly charming performance,” (The New York Times) is the witty, intelligent, charismatic, and brave small-town fire chief C.D. Bales. But due to the size of his enormous nose, he doubts that he can ever win the heart of the beautiful Roxanne (Daryl Hannah), who loves him only as a good friend. When his handsome but dim-witted underling Chris McConnell (Rick Rossovich) becomes smitten with Roxanne, Bales agrees to lend Christian his gift for words. Wrote The Hollywood Reporter in its original film review, “Light and likable, with hearts unabashedly all over its sleeves…it’s a refreshing summertime romance-comedy blend.”
