When a family’s matriarch, Margaret, is forced to acknowledge that her health is deteriorating and that her death is imminent, her son Theodore (Theo) returns to their Catskills home after many years away. There, he finds his sister, Beth, struggling to cope with their ailing mother. As Theo confronts painful memories of his youth, he reconnects with Abe, his mother’s home aid, an acquaintance from his earlier high school years. And Beth, a single mother, finds herself trying to understand the mysterious journey upon which Maddy, her teenaged child, has embarked.
