ABOUT TWO RIVER THEATER

Two River Theater annually produces a theatrical season that includes American and world classics, new plays and musicals, programs for young people, and festivals of new work. Each year, we also offer 40+ events that reflect our diverse community of Red Bank, New Jersey. OPPORTUNITIES

BUILDING OPERATIONS MANAGER

The Building Operations Manager reports to the Director of Operations and is responsible for building and equipment maintenance. Tasks include but are not limited to hands-on maintenance & repair, light custodial tasks, groundskeeping, safety monitoring, light IT oversight and troubleshooting, event set up & break down, and coordination of work by third-party contractors. The Manager must demonstrate general knowledge of all building systems and internals including (but not limited to) HVAC, plumbing, and electric, and is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and functional work environment for all Two River Theater community members. The Manager will coordinate with the members of the Operations Team, across departments, and with 3rd party vendors to execute building upkeep and special projects.

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

The Director of Operations is a member of the Senior Management team at Two River Theater. They report to and work directly with the Managing Director, and as a collaborative partner with the Production, Finance, Marketing, Education and Administration Departments. Primary responsibilities include oversight of the building maintenance, building systems and the overall properties. The Director of Operations leads a team of full and part- time employees.

SAFETY GUARD

Safety Guard will join Front of House operations, and will collaborate with other departments such as Operations, the Box Office and Production. This role will help ensure the safety and wellness of TRT’s staff, audiences and artistic personnel during theatrical production processes and public gathering events. The hourly commitment varies from week to week. However, the range per week may scale from 4 hours to 20 hours. This role requires an in-person presence, and must be available to work in the evenings, nights and weekends.

EDUCATION

Two River Theater, a LORT D producing theater in Red Bank NJ seeks professionally experienced and dependable theater teaching artists for periodic outreach programs on a rolling basis. Teaching Artists will incorporate the arts in schools using the work on our stage. Applicants should have extensive experience teaching theater to grades 4–12. Experience teaching Shakespeare, as well as in-school workshops, should be noted. Teaching artists need patience, a good sense of humor, intelligence and a sincere desire to inspire and make a difference.

EMERGING PROFESSIONALS

Two River’s Emerging Professionals program is a springboard for professionals at the start of their career. The program offers practical applications in multiple career fields, including: costuming, props, lighting, sound, artistic development, management and more. The season-long positions-in-residence receive weekly pay, housing, a travel stipend allotment, optional 100% paid Employer health benefits, and are supported by mentors who help them learn and connect with leading industry professionals, allowing them to grow within their specific fields.

 

SOUND ASSISTANT

The Sound Assistant works closely with the sound supervisor, designers, and the lighting crew, as needed. The ideal candidate is positive, self-motivated, organized, collaborative and professional. Duties include working as a member of the sound and lighting crew on all aspects of load-in, hang, focus, tech notes, and strike. The sound assistant will also serve as board operator, A-2, or other positions as needed for the run of our mainstage and black-box theatrical productions and rentals. Other duties include helping to maintain inventories, equipment maintenance, and assisting other departments as needed.

PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT

The Production Management Assistant works as an integral part of the production management team. Responsibilities include but aren’t limited to: expense tracking and payment of bills, managing space requests, maintaining the facility calendar, fielding inquiries about renting TRT spaces, event contracting, facilitating pre-event communications and meetings between renters and theater staff, serving as a point person on the day of rental events, and working as part of the company management and Covid safety team, including but not limited to grocery runs, company check-in’s, attending meeting and rehearsals as needed, and assisting the Company Manager with various tasks. Candidates should be self-motivated, organized, collaborative, positive, and professional with a willingness to learn.

LIGHTING ASSISTANT

The Lighting Assistant works closely with the lighting supervisor, designers, and the sound crew, as needed. The ideal candidate is positive, self-motivated, organized, collaborative and professional. Duties include working as a member of the lighting crew on all aspects of hang, focus, tech notes, and strike, as well as assisting sound. The Lighting Assistant will also serve as board operator, spotlight operator, or other positions as needed for the run of TRT’s mainstage and black box productions and rentals. Other duties include helping to maintain inventories and assisting other departments as needed.

ARTISTIC ASSISTANT

The Artistic Assistant’s job involves attending all rehearsals and previews for the entire mainstage season, taking notes for the director during rehearsals and previews, working closely with the Associate Producer/Literary Manager to ensure that all readings, workshops, festivals, artistic residencies, open rehearsals and other events led by the Artistic department run smoothly, supporting the Literary Manager in putting together dramaturgical materials and actor packets for the season’s productions, assisting other departments such as Marketing, Production and Company Management when needed and handling administrative duties within the Artistic office as they arise

PROPERTIES ASSISTANT

The Prop Assistant will assist the prop shop staff in a hands-on environment of building, altering, and acquiring props for a busy season. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to painting, sewing, upholstery, multi-media craft projects, woodworking, welding, furniture building and repair, and paper prop creation. This position shops locally and online for materials and props for productions, provides support for the rehearsal and tech process, including load-in and strike, and helps to maintain and organize a large stock of hand props and furniture. The Prop Assistant will also gain experience working on run crew for in-house productions and rentals, as assigned. Candidates must be detail oriented, a team player, organized and punctual. Confidence in basic woodworking and crafting skills with a desire to learn new prop building techniques. We are seeking candidates who are flexible and comfortable with ever-changing priorities, self-motivated and excited to learn in a high paced and multi-tasking environment.

PRODUCTION ASSISTANT

The Production Assistant (PA) works alongside the AEA Stage Management (SM) team to attend and assist with all scheduled rehearsals, technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances to ensure all call times are being met and all production equipment is kept in appropriate working condition. The PA shares the traditional responsibilities of both a PA and an ASM, and they also serve as part of the run crew (including scenic transitions, props hand-offs, and wardrobe changes) when shows move from rehearsal into tech. The PA helps with setting up the rehearsal room, taking notes, copying, and other duties as assigned; filling out accident reports for any incidents that occur; prepare documents including run sheets, tracking, and other duties; and inventory and stock various first aid stations throughout the theater. The PA begins working with each SM team during their prep week, and helps orient the SM team to TRT and its staff and facilities. The PA may also be assigned to assist with rental events and company management responsibilities, as needed. Candidate must be resourceful, flexible, organized, collaborative, positive and professional. This position works closely with the production department, guest artists, and AEA Stage Managers.

WARDROBE/COSTUME SHOP ASSISTANT

The Wardrobe/Costume Shop Assistant works closely with acting companies, wardrobe crews, costume designer, and costume shop throughout the season.
