Artistic Director Justin Waldman hosts an intimate conversation with ¡VOS! Director, Nicole A. Watson. Coffee and cookies will be available starting at 5:30 PM, with the discussion set to start at 5:45 PM.

MEET THE GUEST

Nicole A. Watson

Nicole A. Watson is a freelance director and educator with a focus in new play development and plays that deal with the past. She is currently the Producing Artistic Director at the Playwrights’ Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Selected credits include Bulrusher (Berkeley Rep, McCarter Theatre) Blues for an Alabama Sky (Guthrie Theater, McCarter Theatre) the premiere of it’s not a trip it’s a journey, (Round House Theatre) the premiere of The West End (Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park) the premiere of A Wind in the Door (Kennedy Center) School Girls; or, the African Mean Girls Play, (Round House Theatre), Lynn Nottage’s Sweat, and Robert Schenkkan’s The Great Society, (Asolo Repertory Theater). On behalf of Round House Theatre and the McCarter Theatre, she produced the Adrienne Kennedy Festival, a celebration of Kennedy’s work. For the festival, she directed a digital version of Kennedy’s She Brought Her Heart Back in a Box. She also was a co-curator with Paula Vogel on Bard at the Gate, a digital catalog of new plays by playwrights such as Zakiyyah Alexander, Lloyd Suh, Dipika Guha, Nikki Massoud, Jose Rivera, Laura Shellhardt, Majkin Holmquist, and Joy Harjo. Nicole is a member of the New Georges Jam and has worked with New Dramatists, the Ojai Playwrights Conference, Lark Play Development Center, the Fire this Time Festival, the New Black Fest, the Women’s Project Theater, The 52nd Street Project, NYTW, Signature Theatre, and Working Theater. Nicole is an alum of both the Lincoln Center Directors Lab and the Women’s Project Directors Lab and a member of the SDC. BA: History, Yale. MA: NYU Gallatin School of Individualized Study.

Audio Description is available for patrons with vision loss. Using a lightweight headset, with no wires or cables, that operates with a FM system, patrons can hear a live, objective and concise description of the action on stage.

Open Captioning is available for patrons with hearing loss. This service is useful to those who may not fully benefit from the FM amplification system, or who need help catching particular words. A screen, which projects dialogue as the action occurs live on stage, is placed to the side of the stage.
