Misalliance
Come witness an English afternoon in May, 1909, and the hilarious squabbles among two well-heeled families preparing for the imminent marriage of their offspring: Hypatia, the lusty daughter of the kind of underwear, and her fiancée, Bentley, the rude, intellectual, sniveling son of a very proper former Governor of a providence of India. Crashing down, literally, into this misalliance and bringing along mirthful mayhem are the stunning aviatrix Lina, the attractive suitor Percival, and a Marxist assassin who emerges from a Turkish bath.
A perennial favorite by that Irish curmudgeon, George Bernard Shaw: wry, mocking, sharp and entertaining. His target: parents, children, marriage, gentility, religion, aristocracy and all that is proper.
