This class is designed to help actors refine their monologue performances for auditions. Students will select a compelling monologue that suits their casting type and learn techniques to enhance delivery, emotional connection, and stage presence. This work will ensure that students leave a lasting impression on casting directors through confident, captivating performances. Students will perform their monologue on the Rechnitz stage on Friday evening.

MEET THE TEACHING ARTIST

Kelly O'Donnell

Kelly O’Donnell is a director, teacher, and co-founder of Flux Theatre Ensemble in NYC. She works as a teaching artist at Stages on the Sound and teaches theatre across Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and the Bronx. She is also on the theatre faculty at the Spence School in Manhattan. Kelly has directed college productions at NYU, Temple University, Lafayette College, the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, and high school students as part of Shakespeare & Company’s Fall Festival of Shakespeare. Her professional credits include Wolf Play (Portland Theater Festival), Indecent (Connecticut Critics Circle Award, Best Director), The Agitators, and Ms. Holmes & Ms. Watson – Apt. 2B at Playhouse on Park; Hearts Like Fists (New York Times Critics Pick), Dog Act by Liz Duffy Adams, Marian, or the True Tale of Robin Hood by Adam Szymkowicz, World Builders by Johnna Adams, and Jane the Plain by Corinna Schulenburg (NYIT Award nominee, Best Director). She has developed new work with New Dramatists, Portland Center Stage (JAW), The Flea, NJ Rep, and JRJ Productions. Kelly holds an MFA in Directing from Columbia University. kellyod.com
