FULL-TIME

ASSOCIATE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR 

The Associate Artistic Director reports to—and works directly with—Artistic Director, John Dias as a key player in all artistic and producorial activities of Two River Theater. The Associate Artistic Director oversees the budgets and staff of the Artistic Department and plays a leading role in season planning, line producing, and all related artistic programming by cultivating artistic and industry relationships; participating in humanities and lifelong learning activities; participating in arts engagement activities; participating in donor cultivation events; and representing the theater locally and in the national conversation throughout the field. We seek an individual with a demonstrated background as an artistic producer and with a skillset that ranges across new plays, musicals, and classics.

Compensation:  Starting compensation for this position will be $70,000+. Benefits package includes medical and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, paid vacation, personal time and a 403 (b) retirement plan.

CUSTOMER SERVICE SUPERVISOR

Seeking a friendly, enthusiastic, and customer service oriented individual to join our box office team. Should possess strong computer and problem-solving skills and must present a professional and helpful attitude with all of our patrons. This is a full-time position reporting directly to the Box Office Manager. Together, Two River’s Box Office Manager and Customer Service Supervisor oversee a team of part time customer service/sales staff.

DIGITAL MARKETING MANAGER

Seeking an extremely creative and strategic marketer to oversee Two River Theater’s digital platforms and campaigns through email, social media, website, online advertising and more. The Digital Marketing Manager is part of a four-person marketing department and works as part of the team to develop, support and manage dynamic and ever changing initiatives to support the work of Two River Theater. This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Marketing.

JUNIOR STAFF

Two River Theater is seeking Assistant applicants for our 2021-2022 season.

The Assistants are part of Two River’s Junior Staff, a program that is a springboard for young professionals at the start of their career. The program offers practical applications in multiple career fields. The season long positions-in-residence are supported by mentors who help them learn and connect with leading industry professionals, allowing them to grow within their specific fields.

Two River Theater is dedicated to the goal of building an equitable and culturally diverse work environment and strongly encourages applications from members of underrepresented groups.

Production Assistant
Work as an integral part of the stage management team from pre-production through closing of each show in the season. Responsibilities include but aren’t limited to: setting up rehearsal spaces, keeping up-to-date paperwork, contributing to a productive and positive artistic environment, serving as liaison between Two River Theater production staff and visiting artists, and assisting with day to day stage management duties as assigned. Candidates must have training in stage management procedures and practices, be self-motivated, organized, collaborative, positive, and professional. Contract dates are early August through late June 2022.

Production Management Assistant
Work as an integral part of the production management team. Responsibilities include but aren’t limited to: basic office book-keeping and payment of bills, managing space requests, and maintaining the facility calendar, fielding inquiries about the rental of the building, event contracting, facilitating pre-event communications and meetings between renters and theater staff, serving as point person on the day of rental events, and working as part of the company management team. Experience working special events and in an office setting is helpful. Candidates should be self-motivated, organized, collaborative, positive, and professional with a willingness to learn. A valid driver’s license is preferred. Contract dates are July 1 through late June, 2022.

Company Management Assistant
This position plays a key role in Two River’s commitment to artist care. Responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: functioning as the main point of contact for guest artists while they are in town, facilitating grocery runs, tracking and processing comp ticket requests, maintaining company vehicles, turning over 10+ apartments between shows, and facilitating artist travel. Candidates must have prior company or stage management experience and be self-motivated, organized, collaborative, positive, professional, and have the ability to exhibit tact and grace in all situations. A valid driver’s license is required. Contract dates are July 1 through late June, 2022.

Wardrobe/Costume Shop Assistant
The costume assistant’s responsibilities include working in the costume shop, on wardrobe crews, and assisting other departments as needed. Candidates should have experience with costume construction, alterations, wardrobe/run crew, costume maintenance, as well as experience with all standard costume shop equipment.  Knowledge of cutting, tailoring, craft work, wig experience and/or makeup is a plus. Our ideal candidate is self-motivated, organized, collaborative, positive, and has a professional attitude. Contract dates are October 4 through late June, 2022.

Lighting Assistant
The ideal candidate is positive, self-motivated, organized, collaborative and professional. Candidates must have experience working with theatrical lighting systems. Experience programming the ETC ION is essential. Experience with Lightwright, Vectorworks and Q-Lab is helpful. Duties include working as a member of the lighting crew on all aspects of hang, focus, tech notes, and strike, as well as assisting sound. The lighting assistant will also serve as board op, spotlight op, or other positions as needed for the runs of our productions. Other duties include helping to maintain inventories and assisting other departments as needed. Contract dates are October 18 through late June, 2022.

Scene Shop Assistant
The Scene Shop Assistant will participate fully in all facets of scene shop work including carpentry and metal work, welding, rigging, loading in and loading out scenery, and maintaining productions. Responsibilities include working in the scene shop, assisting with load ins and strikes, working on run crews as assigned, and assisting other departments as needed. Candidates must have experience working with theatrical construction, be self-motivated, organized, collaborative, positive, professional, and willing to learn. Previous experience with shop equipment and power tools is required, knowledge of scenic painting, welding, and rigging a plus. Contract dates are September 27 through late June, 2022.

Sound Assistant
The ideal candidate must have experience working with live and recorded sound for theatrical productions. Experience with Yamaha digital consoles, wireless mics, and Q-Lab is essential. Experience with Dante and Pro Tools is helpful, as well as some experience with theatrical lighting systems and projections. Candidates must be positive, self-motivated, organized, collaborative and professional. Duties include working as a member of the sound crew on all aspects of sound support from the load in through the strike. This position also involves working with the Lighting Department and the ideal candidate should have experience hanging and focusing electrics as well. The sound assistant will also serve as either sound board op, A2, FOH mix engineer, or other positions as needed during the runs of our productions. Other duties include maintaining inventories and assisting other departments as needed. Contract dates are October 18 through late June, 2022.

Properties Assistant
The Prop Assistant will assist the professional staff of the prop shop in a hands-on environment of building, altering, and acquiring props for a busy season. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to painting, sewing, upholstery, multi-media craft projects, woodworking, welding, furniture building and repair, and paper prop creation. This position shops locally and online for materials and props for productions, provides support for the rehearsal and tech process, including load-in and strike, and helps to maintain and organize a large stock of hand props and furniture. The Assistant will also gain experience working on run crew, as assigned. Candidates must be detail oriented, a team player, organized and punctual. Confidence in basic woodworking and crafting skills with a desire to learn new prop building techniques. Two River is seeking candidates who are flexible and comfortable with ever-changing priorities, self-motivated and excited to learn in a high paced and multi-tasking environment. A valid driver’s license, ability to drive a cargo van, and lift up to 50 pounds is required. Contract dates are October 25 through late June, 2022.

Compensation: Compensation includes weekly pay of $300 plus local fully furnished and all utilities paid shared housing which is valued at $230 per week, calculating to $530 per week in total taxable compensation, equal to $13.25 an hour for a 40-hour week. This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime pay after 40 hours at a time and a half rate of $19.88. Medical and vision insurance plans are available. This position accrues sick leave in accordance with the NJ State Earned Sick Leave law

ARTISTIC ASSISTANT

Two River Theater is seeking Artistic Assistant applicants for our 2021-2022 season.

The Artistic Assistant has two main roles: serving as the assistant to the director for all mainstage productions, and supporting the needs of the Artistic department. The Artistic Assistant must be able to adapt to the different style that each director has and adjust their role in the rehearsal room to best suit the needs of the director and the production. It is up to each director how the Artistic Assistant will be used during the production process. The Artistic Assistant must have the ability to handle a diverse set of responsibilities that come up throughout the course of the season with enthusiasm and confidence. Candidates must have a solid background in theater, training in directing, excellent communication skills, be self-motivated, organized, collaborative, positive, and professional. A valid driver’s license is preferred.
