What They Did

September 2024
Our Howard Aronson Metro Scholars kicked off the year in an exciting way! Students had orientation with Education Department staff members Kate and Brie, then attended a performance of Two River Theater’s American Mariachi! They took a tour of the set, and discussed the show.

October 2024
In October, our Howard Aronson Metro Scholars participated in the Casting 101 Workshop led by Education’s Kate and Brie! Students learned about character work, the ins and outs of the casting process, how to cast a show, and even had the opportunity to audition for each other!

December 2024
The Howard Aronson Metro Scholars spread some holiday cheer volunteering with the Marketing Team for the Holiday Pop-Up event! The scholars read stories to children in the reading room and helped with arts and crafts activities.

January 2025
To ring in the new year, the Howard Aronson Metro Scholars participated in the Dramaturgy 101 Workshop with Artistic Assistant Bailey Dumlao! Students learned about the importance and purpose of Dramaturgy in a production and as a career.

February 2025
February gave the Metro Scholars the opportunity to meet with Two River’s Development Department staff members Megan, Carmen, and Amalea to learn all about the Art of Fundraising! This workshop had them thinking outside the box to create new ideas, use fake cash to simulate sales, and have the opportunity to pitch their own education program to their peers!

March 2025
In March, the Howard Aronson Metro Scholars attended a performance of Dial M for Murder, toured the production set, and engaged in a post-show chat! Students also had the opportunity to participate in our Props Workshop with Two River Theater Props Master, Cedric! The students learned valuable skills, including how our props department creates and sources all props and the work that goes into each decision. Students were able to craft their own chocolate candy props!

April 2025
April was full of fun for the Metro Scholars as they took part in our Playwriting 101 Workshop with the writer and star of ¡VOS!, Christina Pumariega! Students also saw ¡VOS! and took a tour of the set.

May 2025
The Howard Aronson Metro Scholars had a busy month of May! Students got creative with Leslie, Two River Theater’s Costume Supervisor, during the Costume 101 Workshop! Each student tailored designs for different iconic Disney sidekicks! The Metro Scholars also workshopped with the Marketing Department, learning all about the box office, branding, and creating their own marketing campaigns!

June 2025
To close out the amazing 2024/25 year, the Howard Aronson Metro Scholars saw Two River Theater’s The Price where they got to tour the set! The students also got not one, but two workshops! A Theater-Making Workshop with Al Silver, star of ¡VOS!, and a Directing Workshop with The Price director, Brandon J. Dirden!
