Ma Rainey's Black Bottom Film Screening

Join us for a special screening of Netflix’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, starring Academy Award-winner Viola Davis, Chadwick Boseman, Glynn Turman, Colman Domingo, and Michael Potts. Based on the acclaimed play by August Wilson, the film follows legendary blues singer Ma Rainey and her band during a tense 1920s recording session in Chicago, as battles over music, power, race, and creative control unfold. Following the screening, audiences are invited to stay for a conversation with cast members from Two River’s production of August Wilson’s The Piano Lesson, moderated by Gilda Rogers, Two River’s Community Relations Manager and Executive Director of the T. Thomas Fortune Cultural Center.
