The Cocktail Hour
Start with a pitcher of familial complexities, add two jiggers of dry wit, toss in some twists of plot, and stir for a heartfelt and hilarious evening in the theatre. As the cocktail hour approaches, Bradley and Ann want nothing more than to unwind with a good dry martini. At this family reunion, however, the jokes fly and the tension rises as their son, a young writer, cracks the cool veneer of this family’s upper-crust lifestyle and forces them to confront the dynamics of their relationship.
A sparkling comedy by award-winner A.R. Gurney, America’s most astute chronicler of that most maligned of all majorities, the White Anglo-Saxon Protestant! Directed by Dennis Delaney, cited by the Newark Star Ledger as Best Director of a Comedy for the 1993-94 season.
