New Work and Commissions
Two River believes in producing new works. We have built a robust initiative to foster a pipeline of new plays at various stages of development, and to produce original work by some of the country’s leading theater artists.
Staying true to our founding principles, we bring a fresh eye to American and world classics, and we have commissioned and premiered many original projects including Be More Chill by Tony® Award nominee Joe Iconis and Joe Tracz (the theater’s first Broadway production) and Hurricane Diane by Playwright-in-Residence Madeleine George (which won an Obie Award for its Off-Broadway run).
Current Commissioned Playwrights: Ngozi Anyanwu, Jaclyn Backhaus, Jessica Hagedorn, Joe Iconis & Joe Tracz, James Ijames, Eliana Pipes and Christina Pumariega.
