From final dress in February 2020, to a guest appearance by comedian Hasan Minhaj in August 2021, to the first week of rehearsals for its long-awaited return to the stage in November 2021, the set of August Wilson’s Radio Golf has seen a lot over the last 19 months.
We’re taking a look back at the evolution of Two River’s longest-living set!
JANUARY 2020: SET RENDERINGS
Phase One of Radio Golf’s set evolution started way back in January 2020 with Scenic Designer Ed Hayne’s set renderings. Using the detailed concept of Ed’s design, our talented team of creatives got to work on making this vision a reality.
FEBRUARY 2020: FINAL DRESS
February 2020 saw the start of rehearsals for our 6th production in Wilson’s iconic 10-play series, The American Century Cycle.

FEBRUARY / MARCH 2020: PERFORMANCES
August Wilson’s Radio Golf starts performances on February 29/2020 and officially opens on March 6. The critically acclaimed production is forced to shut down on March 12 due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

FEBRUARY 2021: RADIO GOLF SET TURNS ONE!
Somehow, 12 months went by.
Relegated to an indefinite future waiting in the darkened wings of a quiet Rechnitz Theater, the set of August Wilson’s Radio Golf turned one (Birthdate: February 25/ 2020)!
Members of the production team, Fiona Malone, Duane Noch, Christian Dilks, Colleen Dolan, and Jackie Deniz Young, celebrated the longest set to ever stay up at Two River Theater with a small gathering and individually packaged cakes.
AUGUST 2021: HASAN MINHAJ'S "EXPERIMENT TIME"
In August 2021, we welcomed audiences back to Two River for our first indoor event in 16 long months! Comedian Hasan Minhaj performed his new standup show Experiment Time amidst the still-standing set of August Wilson’s Radio Golf.
Though Minhaj joked “This isn’t my set, I don’t know where I am,” we were thrilled to have life on our stage at last!
OCTOBER 2021: LIGHTS UP AT LAST
August Wilson’s Radio Golf Returns!
On October 20/2021 rehearsals began again! Director Brandon J. Dirden snapped a selfie with cast members Toccarra Cash, Wayne DeHart, Carl Hendrick Louis, Nathan James and Robbie Williams, Production Assistant Adrian Griffey and Artistic Assistant Emma Y. Lai!
Performances begin Nov 6 and run through Nov 21.
