NJArts.net: Two River Theater adds musical about Keith Haring to 2021-22 season

by Jay Lustig

The Two River Theater in Red Bank has added “Radiant Baby,” a musical about the artist Keith Haring, to its 2021-22 season. It will run June 4-26.

Haring was a major part of the New York art scene in the ’80s and died in 1991, at the age of 31, of AIDS. “Radiant Baby” previously was produced at the Public Theater in New York in 2003.

According to a press release, the musical “traces Haring’s world — his obsessions, inspirations, joys, addictions — and his quest to find how you live with limited time and unlimited dreams.”

As previously announced, Two River’s 2021-22 season will begin Nov. 6-21 with August Wilson’s “Radio Golf” (whose 2020 run was shortened by the pandemic) and also include Anton Chekhov’s “Three Sisters,” Jan. 15-Feb. 6; and Tony Meneses’ “The Hombres,” March 12-April 10.

The theater also reports that work on its parking lot has been completed — it had been closed for a number of shows prior to pandemic — and wine, beer and cocktails will be available for purchase in the lobby, one hour prior to shows.
