New Kids on the Block heartthrob and veteran actor Joey McIntyre has signed on for not one, but two upcoming New Jersey theater productions.
He’ll make his Shakespearean debut playing Duke Orsino in Shakespeare’s comedy “Twelfth Night” at the Two River Theater in Red Bank, Jan. 11-Feb. 2. The play will have a musical element, with original songs composed by the band/theater collective, The Lobbyists. Visit tworivertheater.org.
He will also be in “The Wanderer,” a new musical based on the songs of rock and doo-wop legend Dion, at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, May 2-June 28. Visit papermill.org.
McIntyre, 46, has appeared on Broadway, in the musicals “Wicked” (in 2004 and 2005) and “Waitress” (this year), and been in movies such as “The Heat,” “On Broadway” and “The Fantasticks.”
He is still a member of New Kids on the Block, whose only currently scheduled 2020 activity is a fan cruise, April 23-27.
He also has had hit singles as a solo artist (“Stay the Same” and “I Love You Came Too Late,” both released in 1999).
