¡Festejo!

For 15 years, Two River Theater’s annual festival celebrating Latine playwrights has been a vibrant space for bold storytelling, artistic discovery, and community connection. Now reimagined as ¡Festejo!, this beloved festival returns August 6-9, 2026 for four days of free readings, live music, and celebratory gatherings that spotlight the richness and diversity of Latine stories onstage.

Curated by director José Zayas, this year’s festival features five exciting new works in development by acclaimed and emerging playwrights, including Melinda Lopez, Iraisa Ann Reilly, Nelson Díaz-Marcano, Marvin González De León, and Noelle Viñas. Audiences will experience stories that explore history, identity, resilience, family, and belonging through a wide range of theatrical styles, from sweeping historical drama and dark comedy to music-filled storytelling and magical realism.

In addition to play readings, audiences can gather on the plaza for a live performance by Jarana Beat, the internationally acclaimed Mexico-via-Brooklyn ensemble blending Afro-Amerindian musical traditions with contemporary sounds. All festival events are free and open to the public, inviting audiences to experience new work at the earliest stage of the creative process while celebrating the artists and stories shaping the future of American theater.
